Singapore Tuition Agency: Terms And Conditions (For Students)
The information in these Terms and Conditions is updated as of 30 May 2007 by CampusTutors. CampusTutors reserves the right to alter the terms and conditions within reasonable limits as situation requires, with or without notice.
Description of Tutor
CampusTutors attempts to be as accurate as possible. However, CampusTutors does not guarantee the description of the tutor is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free.
Tuition Rates
The rate of charges will follow the tuition rates table stated on CampusTutors.com.sg unless otherwise stated. CampusTutors reserve the rights to change the rates at anytime and will explicitly state on the website if we do so. However, the rate stated at the time the request is submitted will hold even if changes to the rates are made later. CampusTutors records the timestamp of all request transactions.
Place of Tuition
The assigned tutor will teach at the residence of the customer by default unless otherwise indicated by you and you are to provide a reasonable environment for the conduct of lessons.
First Lesson
On the first lesson or upon meeting up, you need to request the tutor to present his/her credentials and qualifications for validation. It is your responsibility to ensure that the tutor's credentials and qualifications are satisfactory. In the event you wish to terminate the services of the assigned tutor and wish to change the tutor, you need to inform CampusTutors.
Tuition fees, Commission and Payments
You will pay us 50% commission after the 2nd week of commencement of tuition, and pay the tutor the remaining 50% after the first one month of tutoring. For subsequent months, tutor will keep the full tuition fee. You can transfer the 50% of tutor's first month earning to our company’s bank account via internet banking or automated teller machine (ATM), or simply send us a crossed cheque. This is our administration fee and is therefore non-negotiable.
Tutors are not allowed to change the commission or tuition fees in any way without the knowledge of CampusTutors for the first month. The customer should inform us immediately if the tutor tries to renegotiate the tuition fees, the commission payable to us or tries to by-pass the tuition agency. After the first month, CampusTutors will not be responsible if the tutor requires a change of tuition rates. However, the customer has the right to change the tutor after the first month.
If you decide to stop the tuition after the first lesson, you are only required to pay for that lesson. There is no free trial lesson.
The tutor is not allowed to collect the payment on our behalf unless directed by us. If you insist on passing our commission to the tutor and the tutor defaults the commission, you will be liable for our losses, and CampusTutors shall not be liable for any inconvenience or confusion caused among you and the tutor. We will provide our bank account information for you to make payment via cheque mailing or bank transfer.
In any case when you are liable for payment, you must settle it within 7 days. Any delay will subject to a $2 fine per week of delay. If the delay is over 6 weeks, CampusTutors will consider submitting the case to Small Claims Tribunals.
Disputes
CampusTutors will not act as an arbitrator or mediator for any conflicts or disagreements that arise between the tutor and the student. However, we are always prepared to offer our views and suggestions.
Relationship of Parties
Registering with CampusTutors as a student (customer) will not create any partnership, joint venture, agency, franchise, sales representative, or employment relationship between the parties. As a student, you will have no authority to make or accept any offers or representations on our behalf.
Limitation of Liability
CampusTutors, its owners and employees, will not be liable for any damages, including but not limited to indirect, special, or consequential damages.
